Section 02
What data we collect and why
Newsletter sign-up
When you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. We use this to send you updates about new episodes, reflections, guest stories and resources. We will only contact you when there is something genuinely worth sharing.
Together — story submissions
When you submit a story through the Together section, we collect:
- Your story text: the content you choose to share
- Your name or preferred attribution: how you would like to appear if your story is featured (e.g. “Maya” or “A carer from London”)
We read every submission. Stories are only published on the site or discussed on the podcast with your explicit prior consent. You can request removal of your story at any time by emailing info@theweightoflovepodcast.com.
Contact and feature applications
When you use the Contact Us form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your message and any optional details you provide (topic, location, enquiry type)
We use this to respond to your enquiry and, where relevant, to consider you for a guest appearance or partnership. We will never add you to a mailing list based on a contact form submission without your explicit agreement.
Data we do not collect
This website does not collect payment information, location data (beyond what you voluntarily provide), government identifiers, or any special category data (such as health information) through its forms. The podcast itself may discuss health topics, but we do not record or store any listener health data.
Section 03
Lawful basis for processing
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we process your data on the following bases:
| Activity | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Sending you newsletters you subscribed to | Consent: you opted in |
| Responding to your contact or feature enquiry | Legitimate interests: responding to a direct request |
| Processing story submissions | Consent: you submitted and ticked the consent box |
| Storing enquiry data for follow-up | Legitimate interests: managing communications |
Section 04
Third-party services we use
This website uses a small number of third-party services. Each receives only the data they need to perform their function.
Formspree (form processing)
All three forms on this website (newsletter, story, contact) are processed by Formspree Inc. When you submit a form, your data is transmitted to Formspree’s servers and then forwarded to our email inbox. Formspree stores submissions temporarily on servers in the United States under appropriate data transfer safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses).
Elfsight (Instagram feed)
Our website displays an Instagram feed widget provided by Elfsight. When this widget loads, Elfsight’s platform.js script runs in your browser and may collect standard analytics data (page URL, browser type, IP address). This is used by Elfsight to serve the widget. We do not receive or store this data ourselves.
Spotify (embedded player)
Our episodes page contains an embedded Spotify player. When you interact with this player, Spotify may set cookies and collect listening data in accordance with their own privacy policy. You do not need a Spotify account to listen via the embedded player, but if you are logged in, Spotify may record your listening activity.
Google Fonts
This website loads fonts (Playfair Display, Inter, Caveat) from Google Fonts. When the page loads, your browser makes a request to Google’s servers, which may log your IP address. We use Google Fonts solely for typography.
IONOS (web hosting)
This website is hosted by IONOS SE. IONOS processes standard server logs (IP address, request time, file accessed) as part of normal hosting operations. These logs are held by IONOS and are not used by us for marketing or profiling.
Important: We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes. Ever.
Section 05
Cookies and tracking
This website does not set any first-party cookies of its own. However, third-party services embedded in the site (Elfsight, Spotify, Google Fonts) may set their own cookies when their content loads in your browser. These are governed by their respective privacy policies, linked in Section 4 above.
You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Disabling third-party cookies may affect the appearance of the Instagram feed and the embedded Spotify player, but the rest of the site will continue to function normally.
This website does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other behavioural tracking or advertising technology.
Section 06
How long we keep your data
| Type of data | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Newsletter email address | Until you unsubscribe, or until we stop sending newsletters |
| Story submissions | Until you request removal, or until we close the Together feature |
| Contact form messages | Up to 12 months from the date of receipt, or until the matter is resolved |
